STAY TRUE!!!!
Jimi Hendrix was one of a kind. Being one of the most awkward black men of his time Hendrix walked around as a "free black cat," not caring who would stop and stare. Besides dying young and being apart of the 27 Club, nobody would ever take his place. Let's admit it the guy was fearless. He was put on leave from the U.S. Army after an injury caused by a parachute. A self-taught guitarist Hendrix auditioned for famous Blues and Gospel artist and played all over the country (and possibly the world). Vietnam breaks out so he heads to England. History tells the rest.
My first encounter with Jimi's experience was at the age of thirteen. Knowing my growing obsession with the Rock genre (and Hendrix in particular) another cousin of mine (Sabrina Tonge) brought me a cd. To my ever growing surprise it was Jimi's first album Are You Experienced. From tracks such as Purple Haze, Manic Depression, Hey Joe, and even Third Stone From The Sun Hendrix was never hesitant. To simply put it, whether Hendrix showed you the good, bad, or the ugly side of him he stayed in his own lane and stayed true to himself.
Obviously I didn't use Hendrix because he's one of my favorite figures in history, but because we can all learn from an individual's character.
Some eleven years later and ironically I see myself as a Jimi Hendrix. Never do I boast or brag about my gifts and abilities. Although a chip is on my shoulder I never walk with it. People tell me all the time how good of a writer I am, but for the third, fourth, and fifth time: No, I'm Not The Greatest. I was once told that I would be a prince/or royalty one day, but never wore a crown of gold a day in my life. My dress code was always right above standard, never bringing fourth attraction. Estimations on dating apps say I'm a solid six (That's fine with me. I can give two shits about that arena anyway). A bucket list can go on, but the best thing one could do is stop here.
A role model, leader, or public figure will not be found here. Human is the only I could and ever be. Being said, whether I decide to show you the good, bad, or the ugly in me I will stay in my own lane and stay true to myself.
The same should go for you (well, if you want it too). I never write for my own sanity you know. Whoever reads my blogs I encourage you to be the best person you can be. No matter the circumstances your facing, just push through and strive. If all you have is your best that's fine as well. Above it all:
STAY TRUE!!!!
